A Sire Bass in the "J" Tradition: Vintage Look, Modern Demands

The V6-4 carries the DNA of "J"-style basses that shaped the scene, while adapting it to current needs: refined finishes, contemporary ergonomics, and electronics designed to transition from studio to stage without compromise. In Butterscotch, the satin finish allows the grain of the solid ash top laid over a mahogany body to breathe, delivering a confident vintage aesthetic and a sonic balance where warmth meets clarity.

For Which Bassist and Styles?

Versatile and intuitive, the Sire V6-4 is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking an expressive and precise bass without limiting themselves to a single genre. It is also perfectly suited for the ambitious beginner looking for a versatile instrument: passive mode for a simple, organic approach, active mode to sculpt the sound in a band context.

Its "J" character excels in funk and slap thanks to its quick response, shines in jazz and fusion for definition and articulation, and fits naturally in pop/rock, R&B, and gospel thanks to its dynamics and precision in the mix.

The Sound

The Marcus Super-J Revolution pickups deliver the iconic grain of a "J"-style bass: clear attack, lively mids, open highs, and firm lows. The mahogany + ash combination provides a warm foundation with controlled brightness, while the maple neck and fingerboard enhance clarity and presence, ideal for articulated fingerstyle and pick playing.

On the control side, everything is designed for efficiency in real situations: concentric Volume/Tone pot (very useful in passive mode), Blend to balance the two pickups, and active 3-band EQ via the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp (mids at fixed frequency for quick adjustments). The push/pull on the bass control allows switching between active/passive modes in one gesture, handy for regaining a more organic response or securing the performance if needed.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This 4-string bass is long scale (34" / 864 mm scale length): choose long scale 34" string sets, pulling 45-105 for a firm response, or 40-100 for more flexibility depending on your touch. A gig bag or hard case for 4-string long scale bass, a comfortable strap 5 to 8 cm wide, a reliable jack cable, and a tripod bass stand will efficiently complete your setup.
