What you need to know
- Optical Vibraphase : a 2-stage asymmetric phaser with an organic movement and a vintage-style "throb".
- Dual LFO under microprocessor control : complex, stable, and ultra-precise modulations impossible to achieve with a classic single-LFO phaser.
- Dry Mix : switch from smooth vibrato textures to thick vibe-like layers by blending the direct signal and modulation.
- Real-time play : built-in tap tempo, ramping functions, and expression pedal input to control speed like an instrument.

A modern vibraphase, heir to great vintage modulations
The AURRAS Optical Vibraphase follows the lineage of modulations that marked rock's golden age, with a clear inspiration from the hypnotic and lush pulses associated with landmark albums. SolidGoldFX continues the spirit of its previous Vibraphase (Athena): a rich, textured "vibe" aesthetic, but with a more contemporary approach to control. The result: a 100 percent analog audio path, but modulation driven with modern precision, designed to be musical, reproducible, and usable both in studio and on stage.
Who is the SolidGoldFX AURRAS ideal for, and in which styles does it excel?
This pedal is aimed at guitarists (and bassists) seeking expressive modulation capable of ranging from subtle shimmer to deep waves. It shines in rock, blues, psychedelic, funk, stoner, and even ambient genres whenever movement is desired without losing attack clarity. On a live-oriented pedalboard, the tap tempo and ramping make the effect "playable": accelerations, slowdowns, and transitions become natural. In the studio, the dual modulation opens near-rhythmic patterns, perfect for thickening a clean rhythm, adding life to overdubs, or creating swirling textures behind fuzz or overdrive.
Controls, modes, and ergonomics: finely sculpted modulation
At the heart of the AURRAS is a 2-stage asymmetric phase shifter built around a pair of selected opto-isolators individually controlled. This architecture helps maintain a clear signal with minimal distortion while isolating the audio path from potential LFO-related interference. The pedal offers essential controls (speed, depth, level) and especially a Dry Mix that completely transforms usage: the more you raise the direct signal, the more you shift toward thick, enveloping "vibe" sensations while retaining attack. Finally, the offset between the two LFOs is adjustable via a mode selector: Frequency Offset to achieve more "cyclic" and rhythmic figures (by slowing the second LFO), or Phase Offset to refine the beat's asymmetry and enhance the movement's organic feel. On stage, the soft-touch footswitches provide comfortable control, and the expression input (6.35mm TRS jack) allows speed control without interrupting playing.
Sound
The AURRAS delivers liquid, deep, and highly dynamic modulation, with that "heavy" pulsation feeling reminiscent of classic vibe/uni-vibe textures, while remaining surprisingly clean. The optical components provide a smooth response, less "metallic" than a very clinical phaser, and the dual modulation can generate richer movements than a standard sweep: some settings make the sound feel like it breathes, shifts, then snaps back to the groove. By adjusting the Dry Mix, you can maintain excellent definition for open chords or dive into a thick undulation, ideal behind distortion. The pedal responds very well to dynamics: a strong attack yields a more present swirl, light playing produces a velvety vibration, with consistent musicality across all control ranges.

Questions frequently asked
Does the SolidGoldFX Aurras work with a standard 9 V power supply?
The required power supply is a 9 V DC source with a negative center. Battery operation is not supported.
How to adjust the vibe character and modulation depth?
The Speed, Depth, Level, and Dry Mix knobs allow adjusting the speed, intensity, output level, and the amount of dry signal. The Dry Mix preserves more attack when the dry signal is increased.
What are the Frequency Offset and Phase Offset modes?
The Frequency Offset mode slows down the second LFO to produce more rhythmic cyclic patterns. The Phase Offset mode adjusts the asymmetry between the two LFOs. This architecture is based on a 2-stage asymmetric optical phase shifter.
Is it possible to control the effect speed with the foot?
A 6.35 mm TRS expression input allows controlling the speed during playing. The two soft-touch footswitches also provide pedal control.
Is the pedal output stereo?
The connections are mono, with a 6.35 mm input and output jack. There is no stereo output, MIDI function, or USB connection integrated.
