What is SurferEQ used for?
SurferEQ is an equalization plug-in designed to shape timbre musically, rather than simply correcting fixed frequencies. Whereas a traditional EQ keeps its bands at a given frequency, SurferEQ can analyze the pitch of a voice or monophonic instrument and shift its bands proportionally to the notes being played.
It therefore makes it possible to preserve the harmonic balance of a vocal recording, bass, solo guitar, saxophone or any other monophonic source more naturally. It is particularly relevant for mixing, electronic production, sound design and creating expressive filtering effects that truly follow the melody.
Thanks to its MIDI control, SurferEQ goes further than a conventional equalizer: its bands can be played from a master keyboard. The plug-in then becomes a genuine spectral sculpting instrument, ideal for animating a texture, transforming a loop or evolving the character of a synth sound.
