The Sixties Spirit in an HSS Stratocaster
The Squier Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster HSS pays tribute to the evolution of the Stratocaster during the 1960s. The period-inspired headstock markings, tinted neck finish and aged white elements create a cohesive retro look. The Shoreline Gold finishing adds a bright touch, complemented by a three-ply parchment pickguard.
Within the Classic Vibe series, this model combines that visual identity with an HSS pickup configuration. Without being limited to a strictly traditional approach, it retains the textures of single-coil pickups while offering a humbucker at the bridge. It is an appealing variation for capturing the Stratocaster spirit with greater possibilities for overdriven tones.
An Electric Guitar for Exploring Several Styles
This right-handed electric guitar can suit a beginner looking for an extended tonal palette as well as an intermediate guitarist seeking a versatile instrument. The C-shaped neck profile offers a familiar feel, while the 9.5-inch / 241 mm radius provides a balance between comfortable chords and ease of movement for melodic playing.
The narrow-tall frets encourage a precise contact sensation, particularly for string bends and finger vibrato. The 25.5-inch / 648 mm scale length maintains a taut response and clear articulation. The original .009–.042 gauge strings make string bends easier, which is useful when working on solos without immediately requiring a heavier gauge.
Blues, pop, funk and rock naturally find their place within its range. The single-coil pickups allow you to work on clear, detailed rhythms, while the humbucker is suited to heavier riffs. The synchronized tremolo expands these possibilities with subtle undulations or more pronounced effects, depending on the bridge setting and playing technique.
Nuanced Clean Tones and a More Powerful Bridge
Its tonal character relies above all on the three Fender Designed pickups with alnico magnets. At the neck, the single-coil pickup delivers rounded, singing tones. The middle pickup provides a more direct alternative for accompaniment parts. At the bridge, the humbucker generally produces a thicker sound than a single-coil pickup, with greater presence for riffs and overdriven solos.
The 5-way selector provides access to the three pickups individually, as well as the bridge/middle and middle/neck combinations. These combinations broaden the available tonal nuances without complicating the controls. A master volume controls the output level; the first tone control affects the neck and middle pickups, while the second is dedicated to the bridge. This allows you to darken the humbucker without altering the tone setting of the two single-coil pickups.
The poplar body, bolt-on maple neck and Indian laurel key form the foundation of the instrument's construction. Their contribution to the response and sustain adds to that of the bridge and the setup; the pickups and amplification remain decisive in the resulting sound. The six saddles allow the string height and intonation to be adjusted individually, adapting the instrument to your playing style.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain a touch close to the original setup, choose a set of nickel-plated steel electric guitar strings in .009–.042 gauge. Switching to a different gauge may require adjustments to the tremolo balance, intonation and neck. Picks and a soft cloth for routine maintenance simply complete the equipment.
