STERLING BY MUSIC MAN Axis Flame Maple Top Trans Gold - BSTOCK

An Axis in the tradition of the most iconic stage electrics

With the Axis AX3FM-TGO, you get the spirit of a model that has become a reference for guitarists looking for quick playability, a sleek look and a responsive feel under the fingers. This version retains the features that have made the series so successful: a compact body, comfortable upper-fret access, a neck designed for fluid playing and a vintage-style Tremolo capable of delivering both subtlety and expressiveness.

This "Trans Gold" version also stands out with an especially appealing presentation. The flamed maple top adds visual depth and enhances the instrument's premium character. This is a guitar that will appeal as much to lovers of beautiful finishes as to musicians looking for an efficient, direct and inspiring instrument for everyday use.

A versatile electric guitar for developing guitarists and seasoned players alike

Thanks to its simple yet thoughtfully designed configuration, this Axis is suited to a wide range of musicians. An intermediate guitarist will find an excellent foundation for exploring rock, modern blues, pop, hard rock and even fusion. More advanced players will appreciate the fast neck, the overall stability of the hardware and the variety of tones offered by the 5-way selector.

The asymmetrical neck profile makes a major contribution to playing comfort. It promotes a natural feel in the hand, whether for powerful rhythm playing or more technical passages, bends and fast runs. The original 09-42 string gauge follows the same philosophy: a soft touch, easy attacks and excellent comfort for left-hand vibrato.

It is also important to be transparent about this particular instrument: it is a StockB guitar that has suffered two impacts, one on the upper part of the body resulting in a finish chip, and the other around the volume control, which was pushed into the control cavity. The repairs have been carried out and leveled, after which the top surface received a matte finishing to conceal the remaining visual marks as effectively as possible. For a musician who prioritizes playing enjoyment and sonic personality, this can represent a great opportunity.

A responsive, dense sound with more nuance than a simple dual-humbucker configuration

The combination of the poplar body and maple neck gives this guitar a balanced tonal foundation. Poplar provides an even response, with well-controlled mids and pleasing dynamics, while maple adds clarity, attack and an immediate sense of precision. The maple key further emphasizes this direct, responsive character, with a clearly defined high end that never becomes harsh.

The two Sterling humbuckers deliver a naturally full-bodied register, with a bridge pickup capable of producing tight rhythms and cutting leads, and a rounder neck pickup for singing phrases, rich arpeggios or thick overdriven sounds. The 5-way selector broadens the instrument's versatility, allowing you to move from a powerful voice to more open textures depending on the combinations offered by the original wiring.

The vintage-inspired Fulcrum Tremolo rounds out the package perfectly. It lets you add subtle vibratos, smooth dips or more expressive effects to your playing while retaining a familiar feel. This design makes for a lively guitar that is equally at home with a pushed clean amp, a responsive crunch tone or a powerful high-gain sound.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, a 09-42 gauge electric guitar string set is the safest choice. You can also pair it with guitar picks, a tuner and a standard jack instrument cable without issue—all essential accessories perfectly suited to this 6-string electric guitar.
