A Majesty Inspired by John Petrucci's Signature Design
The Majesty is the result of a decidedly contemporary approach born from the collaboration between Ernie Ball Music Man and John Petrucci. This Sterling by Music Man version retains the essential codes of the range (ergonomics, access to the high frets, versatility) in an instrument designed for guitarists who want a high-performance, reliable 7-string ready for the stage. It is available in Siberian Sapphire and Arctic Dream finishes.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
The Majesty MAJ170 is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a comfortable 7-string for modern metal, prog, djent, technical rock, and extended chords. Its fast neck, access to the highest frets, and performance-oriented electronics also make it an excellent choice for the studio, when you want to chain precise rhythms and expressive leads with minimal compromise.
Sound
With its HH configuration, the Majesty MAJ170 targets a powerful, balanced sound rich in sustain: ideal for tight distortion, clear palm mutes, and singing solos. The 3-position selector switch allows easy navigation between tones, while the 12 dB active boost (push-push on the volume) adds extra level and density to cut through the mix, thicken a lead, or push the amp's input. The combination of a mahogany body and mahogany neck provides a warm and solid foundation while maintaining clarity for lower tunings thanks to the instrument's modern architecture.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve the original feel, choose a set of Ernie Ball 2621 Regular Slinky strings (manufacturer's recommended reference). A stiff pick and a standard 6.35 mm instrument jack cable complete an effective metal/prog-oriented setup.
