Essential Information on the Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce Honduras Rosewood / Sinker Redwood Guitar

  • New Action Control Neck with long tenon: ultra-fast action adjustment and improved vibration transmission.

  • V-Class Bracing with scalloped profile: fuller bass, rich open-string tones, and exemplary intonation across the entire neck.

  • Claria Electro-Acoustic System: proprietary preamp, under-saddle pickup, and controls at the edge of the soundhole (Volume, Tone, Mid-Contour) for a "stage-ready" sound.

  • Builder's Edition Comfort: beveled cutaway and armrest, chamfered edges, and Curve Wing bridge for premium ergonomics.

A 2026 Milestone in the Taylor Grand Auditorium Line

A major evolution of the iconic Grand Auditorium shape, this Builder's Edition 814ce combines three performance innovations with a pair of exceptional tonewoods traditionally reserved for higher-end series: Honduras rosewood for harmonic depth and "sinker" redwood for responsiveness and projection. It stands as a flagship model in the 800 series, blending heritage, comfort, and stage technologies.

For Which Musician and Styles?

Designed for the demanding intermediate to professional player, the 814ce excels in fingerstyle, dynamic fingerpicking, modern folk, pop, vocal accompaniment, and solo arrangements. The typical balance of the Grand Auditorium format, combined with ample bass reserve and generous sustain, makes it a versatile guitar for both studio and stage.

Sound Characteristics

The solid "sinker" redwood top delivers a soft attack, immediate response, and singing midrange, while the Honduras rosewood back and sides provide deep lows, sparkling highs, and a "piano-like" harmonic richness. The scalloped V-Class bracing further opens the low end and enhances note sustain without sacrificing projection or intonation precision. The Grand Auditorium body offers an excellent volume-to-balance ratio, with natural projection and long, musical sustain.
