A "pedal" format to democratize impulse responses
Long reserved for studios and more complex solutions, impulse responses (IR) have become the go-to method for capturing the character of a miked speaker cabinet... live, in headphones, or through a PA system. With the Impulse IR Loader, TC Electronic brings this approach into a compact pedal, and above all in a "plug and play" spirit: you load your IRs via USB, organize them, and play. Within the range, it is a dedicated and minimalist solution: no modeled amp to tweak for hours, but an essential link to finalize a pedalboard or preamp sound with a credible cabinet simulation.
Who is the Impulse IR Loader for, and in what contexts does it make a difference?
This pedal is aimed at guitarists (from curious beginners to gigging musicians) who want a usable sound for direct recording and live performance, without hauling around an amp and speaker cabinet. Positioned at the end of the chain after your overdrives, distortions, fuzz, and preamps, it transforms a simple pedalboard into a complete "DI-ready" rig: handy for silent stages, headphone rehearsals, home studios, or gigs where you are asked to plug directly into the mixing console.
It is also relevant for hybrid setups: you keep your amp when possible, but have a coherent output underfoot for PA or interface. Finally, the built-in acoustic IRs provide a simple option to improve the sound of a piezo pickup on an electro-acoustic guitar when you seek a more natural and less "dry" tone.

Questions frequently asked
Can custom impulse responses be loaded into the TC Electronic Impulse IR Loader?
Loading and organizing IRs is done via mini-USB through a computer. The pedal has 99 slots and supports IR files with a maximum duration of 200 ms.
How many IRs are included by default?
25 impulse responses come preinstalled: 12 Celestion IRs, 8 TC Electronic Pedal Platform IRs, and 5 acoustic IRs. Slots 1 to 12 hold the Celestion IRs, while acoustic IRs occupy positions 21 to 25.
How to connect this pedal directly to a PA system or an audio interface?
The chain connects to the 6.35 mm mono jack input, then the 6.35 mm mono jack output connects to the mixer or interface. A speaker cabinet IR placed after gain pedals or a preamp provides the tone of a mic'd cabinet. There is no headphone output included.
Is it possible to quickly switch between two IRs on stage?
The A/B mode allows instant switching between two impulse responses with the single footswitch. Holding it down for a few seconds toggles this mode or standard true bypass operation.
What power supply is required?
A 9 V DC power supply with center negative polarity is needed, using a standard 5.5 x 2.1 mm connector. The power adapter is not included.
