A Fuzzy Brit: the "British stack" spirit revisited by SansAmp
The Fuzzy Brit is part of Tech 21's SansAmp Character Plus series: the idea is simple and highly effective for the modern guitarist. Capture the character of legendary amps through a 100% analog emulation, then pair it with an iconic effect that marked history. Here, the combination clearly aims at the chemistry between the British tone (from blues rock to heavy saturation) and a Fuzz Face-type fuzz, covering decades of sounds without multiplying pedals.
Who it's for and what for: from British blues to saturated rock, on pedalboard or direct
This pedal is designed for guitarists who want a credible and usable sound foundation in almost any situation: live, home studio, rehearsal, or as a compact backup solution. On a pedalboard, it can serve as the main preamp (to effects loop return, power amp, mixer) or as a heavy drive in front of a mostly clean amp. Style-wise, the Fuzzy Brit excels in blues, classic rock, hard rock, psychedelic rock, garage, stoner, and anything that demands lively mids, a strong attack, and saturation with character.
Controls and features: two channels, a very progressive Character, and a truly usable fuzz
The heart of the Fuzzy Brit is its "amp-like" two-channel section: you have Drive A / Drive B and Character A / Character B, as well as Vol A / Vol B to precisely balance your levels between rhythm and lead tones. The Character control is designed as a journey through eras: below 12 o'clock, you get the Bluesbreaker/JTM45 vibe (warmth, broad and biting overdrive); around 12 o'clock, it shifts toward the Plexi zone with more "guttural" mids; above 12 o'clock, the upper spectrum gains presence reminiscent of 70s Metalface ; and at max, the pedal embraces the "goes up to 11" nod.
The Fuzz section is independent and designed to stay musical in a mix. The FUZZ knob adjusts the overall fuzz amount, while TONE acts as a specialized

Questions frequently asked
Can the Tech21 Fuzzy Brit be connected directly to a mixing console?
The balanced XLR output allows direct connection to a mixing console or audio interface. An unbalanced 6.35 mm jack output is also available simultaneously for an amp or pedal chain.
What Marshall-style tones does the Character control offer?
Below 12 oâclock, the Character targets Bluesbreaker/JTM45 textures with a full overdrive. Around 12 oâclock, it approaches a Plexi voicing with more pronounced mids. Beyond that, presence increases with a 70s Metalface vibe.
Is the fuzz adjustable independently from the preamp?
The independent Fuzz section has three controls: Level, Tone, and Fuzz. The Tone acts as a low-pass filter to reduce highs without scooping the mids.
Is it possible to use two different gain levels on this pedal?
Two switchable channels A and B each have their own Drive, Character, and Volume settings. This setup allows balancing, for example, a rhythm level and a solo level.
What power supply is required for the Fuzzy Brit?
A 9 V DC center-negative power supply is required, with a maximum current draw of about 55 mA. The included universal 100-240 V adapter supplies 200 mA. Battery operation is not supported.
