What Toontrack Drums of Destruction EZX Is For
Toontrack Drums of Destruction EZX is a drum sound library designed to enhance your metal and heavy music productions, whether in composition, demoing, studio production, or creative reamping. It allows you to quickly achieve a punchy and modern kit in EZdrummer or Superior Drummer, while retaining enough nuance to shift from precise, dry playing to wider ambiances. It's an excellent choice for low-tuned guitars, prominent bass, and dense mixes that require a clear drum presence at high levels.
Main Features
High-end studio capture, designed for metal
The pack was designed and produced by Josh Wilbur (Grammy Award-winning engineer) with Chris Adler, a drummer known for shaping the aesthetic of the modern metal scene. The recording took place at Hybrid Studios in Orange County, California, using an SSL 4064G+ console, external analog chains, and a carefully selected microphone setup. The result is a drum sound that is both ambient and controlled, with clear definition that cuts through the mix.
Two kits, numerous pieces, and great versatility
Drums of Destruction EZX includes two complete kits: one is Chris Adler's personal set, the other a kit selected by Josh Wilbur and used on multiple productions. To tailor the tone and punch for each track, you also have three kick drums, five snares, an additional kick, and Chris's abundant cymbal selection. This "kit builder" approach makes it easy to create a signature sound, whether for precise blasts, heavy grooves, or more open choruses.
Mix-ready presets and optimized multi-output workflow
To speed up production, the pack offers 14 ready-to-mix presets suited to current metal contexts. You also get five "No bus FX" presets, designed for multi-output setups: a clean, structured base ideal if you prefer to manage compression, saturation, EQ, and reverbs directly in your DAW with your usual tools.
MIDI files played by Chris Adler
The selection of MIDI files performed by Chris Adler allows you to quickly build credible arrangements, test structures, and lock down a rhythmic section right from the writing stage. It's also an excellent starting point to customize articulations, humanize variations, and adapt the playing to the accents of your riffs.
