A Trinnov Processor Dedicated to Demanding Stereo Monitoring
The Trinnov ST2 Pro follows Trinnov's approach focused on advanced acoustic measurement and transparent correction: it is not just a simple equalizer but a processor designed to finely analyze the interaction between your speakers and the room. Its clear purpose is to provide a coherent and repeatable listening foundation for environments where every decision matters, from music studios to mastering, post-production, and broadcast control rooms.
In this "Pro" version, the integration of 4-channel processing and the associated Optimizer bundle allows for extended stereo configurations (active 2-way, systems with subwoofers, LCR, quad) while maintaining a studio workflow: measurements, before/after comparison, adjustments, then recall of settings.
Who It's For: Studios, Control Rooms, and Mixing Rooms That Demand Reliable Listening
The ST2 Pro targets professionals who need to work quickly while maintaining reference-quality listening: mix and mastering engineers, sound editors, sound designers, broadcast operators, or post-production teams. In these contexts, room correction is not an "effect": it is a tool to reduce uncertainty, stabilize the stereo image, and ensure reliable choices in equalization, dynamics, and placement.
It is particularly relevant when the room imposes constraints (modes, early reflections, asymmetries), or when multiple people share the same system. Thanks to multi-point measurements and target curves, you can optimize a tight listening area (sweet spot) or a wider zone, depending on the use case (mastering vs. shared control room).
Measurement, Correction, and Control: The Optimizer at the Heart of the ST2 Pro
Acoustic Measurements and Time-Frequency Analysis
The Optimizer uses MLS (Maximum Length Sequence) measurement signals to capture the full impulse response of each speaker. This approach links frequency response to the time domain: it does not only correct "the curve," but also identifies delays, the impact of early reflections, and the contribution of late reverberation. Trinnov's time-frequency algorithms isolate these components and compensate for them in a targeted manner, with a constant goal: preserving the speaker's signature while controlling the room's influence.
FIR/IIR Correction, Phase, and Stereo Image
The correction engine offers compensation based on FIR and IIR filters to improve coherence between direct sound and reverberant field, while working on phase. In practice, this results in a more stable stereo image, better-defined phantom sources, and clearer transient listening. Early reflections arriving shortly after the direct sound can be attenuated through appropriate processing (deconvolution), without artificially "drying out" the room by altering late reflections.
Visualization Tools, Target Curves, and Manual Adjustments
The ST2 Pro includes graphical tools to compare multiple curves (per speaker, per measurement point, before/after correction) to quickly validate a calibration. The tonal balance can be refined via a target curve to adapt the listening to a specification (very neutral work or slight personalization). Practical settings like maximum boost and maximum attenuation facilitate control over correction behavior, and equalization tools (manual FIR, graphic and parametric EQ) allow final "by ear" adjustments when necessary.
Intelligent Active Filtering and Remapping (with Optional 3D Microphone)
For compatible systems, the calibration engine measures and analyzes impulse response, delays, and gains, then calculates optimized filtering aiming for the best compromise in overlap zones (frequency response, directivity, attack). The Trinnov 3D measurement microphone (sold separately) uses a geometry of 4 omnidirectional capsules arranged in a pyramidal structure, enabling precise localization of speakers on horizontal and vertical planes. This measurement is at the core of 2D and 3D remapping features for more coherent reproduction when the listening geometry is not ideal.
Monitoring Controller Function: Daily Operation
Beyond acoustic optimization, the ST2 Pro functions as a true monitoring controller: management of the main level, solo/mute of any channel, source selection, and downmix transposition. It is also possible to send GPO commands to third-party equipment from the interface, facilitating integration in control rooms and studios.
Important: on-site setup and optimization are not included.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Trinnov Audio ST2-Pro Optimizer correct phase and room reflections?
The Optimizer engine uses FIR and IIR filters to correct frequency response and phase. The MLS signal analysis also identifies delays, early reflections, and late reverberation.
How many channels can this monitoring processor handle?
The 4-channel processing allows for a 2-way active stereo, a system with subwoofers, an LCR setup, or quad configuration. Channels can be individually soloed or muted from the monitoring controller function.
Is a Trinnov microphone required to perform measurements?
The Trinnov 3D measurement microphone is sold separately. Its 4 omnidirectional capsules arranged in a pyramidal structure are used to locate speakers on horizontal and vertical planes, which is necessary for the 2D and 3D remapping features.
Can the ST2 Pro correction curve be modified?
Target curves allow adjusting the tonal balance according to specifications. Maximum boost and cut are adjustable, with manual FIR, graphic, and parametric equalizers available for final tuning.
Can the ST2 Pro replace a monitoring controller?
The control section manages the main level, source selection, and downmixes. GPO commands can also be sent to third-party equipment from the interface.
