Summary of This Method
This method offers a concrete approach to choosing, at the right time, the right piano piece according to the student's technical needs. After listening to a practiced piece, the idea is to make a precise diagnosis to highlight strengths and weaknesses, then guide the work towards repertoire that consolidates skills or, conversely, pushes the student to surpass their limits. The result: clearer, more effective progress, with repertoire remaining at the heart of the joy of playing.
Designed around the first three cycles of pianistic studies, this presentation (intentionally non-exhaustive) addresses well-known challenges for teachers: how to quickly find a piece suited to a technical objective without locking the student into an overly rigid classification. The indicated level remains "arbitrary," as each pianist encounters different difficulties depending on coordination, anticipation, tone, rhythmic regularity, or hand independence. This is why some pieces may appear at multiple levels, and users are encouraged to adjust choices according to context: sometimes to restore confidence with a more accessible piece, sometimes to "raise the bar."
The content is organized into 20 chapters grouped by technical themes: movement, alternating playing, chords, independence, agility (including left hand), polyphony, staccato, trills and ornaments, touch and tone work, repetitions and repeated notes, arpeggios, double notes, octaves, as well as combinations of techniques. A valuable tool both for teaching and for passionate pianists outside formal curricula who wish to expand their repertoire while progressing in a structured way.
