Historical context and positioning in the range

The AC30 name is one of the essential landmarks of the British sound: an all-tube architecture, characterful EL84s, and that "jangly" brightness that cuts through the mix effortlessly. The Vox AC30C2 continues this tradition while maintaining a minimalist spirit (sound first), adding features expected by modern guitarists, such as a usable Master Volume and a true bypass effects loop. Within the range, it stands as the versatile AC30 2x12 format, ready for rehearsal, studio, and stage.

Who this amp is for

The Vox AC30C2 is aimed at the intermediate to advanced guitarist who wants an expressive all-tube combo capable of moving from bright clean tones to organic saturation without losing definition. With its 30 watts all-tube power and 2x12 speaker configuration, it is perfectly comfortable for rehearsals and live gigs, and it also shines in the studio for harmonic-rich recordings. Style-wise, it excels in pop, rock, indie, brit, blues, and anything requiring pick dynamics. Note: it is a generous and robust combo, so consider this if you frequently transport your gear.

It's powerful, super clean and there's not much negative to say except for a few quibbles... no swich, the buttons went up in a direction that's not logical and the tremolo is frankly futile. Concerning the reverb, it is relatively soft but perfect, just like the vintage distortion.

Questions frequently asked

What sound does the Vox AC30 C2 Custom offer?

The 4 EL84 tubes deliver 30 W RMS at 16 ohms, with a fast attack and pronounced harmonics. The two 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback speakers provide prominent mids and a softened high end.

Does the Master Volume control the overall volume?

The Master Volume allows adjusting the overall level independently of the Normal and Top Boost channel volumes. No attenuator is built into this combo.

How to use the effects loop on the AC30C2?

The effects loop operates at a -10 dB output level, suitable for pedals. Delays and modulations can thus be placed after the amp's distortion. The Send and Return connections use jack plugs.

Can an external speaker cabinet be connected?

A switchable 8 or 16 ohm output allows connecting an external speaker cabinet by disabling the internal speakers. A second output permits adding a 16 ohm speaker cabinet alongside the two internal speakers.
