The Fundamental Distortion is part of the Fundamental series: a range designed to offer accessible, clear, and quick-to-adjust pedals without sacrificing musicality. Here, no menus, no sub-functions: you plug in, adjust, and play. The core concept is based on a trio of modes (Dark, Si, Led) that allow you to change the character of the distortion and its feel under your fingers, while maintaining minimal ergonomics.

For whom, and in which styles?

This pedal is aimed at guitarists who want a direct distortion that's easy to use, from beginners to experienced musicians looking for an efficient live solution. It is particularly suited to rock, punk, alternative, hard rock genres and any situation where a dense sound that remains clear in a mix is needed.

Thanks to its simple settings, it naturally fits rehearsals, stage, and home studio use. On a pedalboard, it can serve as the main distortion or as a second color to stack with a lighter overdrive to go from solid crunch to a more aggressive rhythm.

Features and ergonomics: simple, clear, effective

The "maximum tone, minimum complication" approach is reflected in the control layout. The sliders provide immediate reading of your settings: ideal when you need to adjust your gain or tone between songs. The three knobs cover the essentials: Gain for saturation amount, Tone to balance brightness and warmth, and Volume to precisely set the output level (useful both for matching a saturated sound and for pushing an amp's input).

The mode selector (Dark, Si, Led) changes the clipping structure and thus the feel: you can aim for a darker and thicker tone, a sharper and more aggressive distortion, or a more open saturation with a different attack. The On/Off footswitch ensures simple and reliable activation, exactly as expected from a pedal designed for playing.

The sound

The Fundamental Distortion delivers a distortion with a strong character, with a texture that can range from compact and thick saturation to a more incisive texture depending on the chosen mode and Tone setting. The tone knob allows you to quickly find the right balance between bite (for cutting riffs) and warmth (to thicken a lead or tame an already bright guitar).

It responds clearly to Gain variations: lower settings provide a more restrained saturation for punchy rhythms; increasing it moves toward a denser sound, ideal for power chords and sustained leads. Depending on your amp, you can use it either as an "all-terrain" distortion on a clean channel or as an additional layer to thicken an already crunchy channel.
