When Studio DNA Meets Modern Bass
The result of extensive Walrus R&D and comparative listening, "The Mantle" combines a Neve-inspired input transformer capable of handling high levels without distortion with an API 312-style output transformer to balance the signal with rich harmonics. The outcome: a "console" signature that enhances playing without masking the instrument's personality. For Whom and For What Uses
Ideal as an always-on tone base for discerning bassists, the pedal suits advanced beginners as well as professionals. It excels in rock, pop, soul, funk, modern jazz, or session work. On a pedalboard, it becomes the perfect interface to an amp, audio interface, or front-of-house, shining equally in recording and live settings thanks to its silent balanced DI and massive headroom.Technical specifications

Questions frequently asked
Can the Walrus Audio Mantle be connected directly to a mixing console or an audio interface?
The balanced male XLR output allows a DI connection to a console or audio interface. Its noise floor is rated at -101 dBV on the balanced output, with a Ground Lift to isolate the ground.
What setting should be used for an active bass?
An Active/Passive switch includes a -10 dB pad intended for active basses and high input levels.
How do the bass and treble EQ controls work?
Both rotary selectors have 11 positions, with a flat setting at noon. When boosting, each step adds 3 dB up to +15 dB and the shelf becomes a wide bell curve. When cutting, the bass engages a high-pass filter from 30 to 120 Hz, while the treble applies a low-pass filter from 8 kHz down to 1 kHz at -18 dB per octave.
What tonal coloration do the Sapphire transformers provide?
The circuit combines an input transformer inspired by Neve with an output transformer inspired by the API 312. The transformer gain can be adjusted from -6 dB to +23 dB to control harmonic contribution.
What are the dimensions of the pedal?
Including its knobs, the size measures 154.78 × 119.35 × 57.98 mm.
