A Modern Evolution of the Slö, Tailored for Stereo Ambient
The Walrus Audio Slöer is a direct successor to the highly acclaimed Slö, carrying forward its "ambient reverb" DNA and expanding into broader territories. The goal is clear: to retain the dreamy and modulated character that made the line famous, while adding more control, stereo width, and sound design possibilities. With its two new modes and enhanced modulation tools, the Slöer positions itself as a larger, more flexible version, focused on "big textures" for modern pedalboards.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
The Slöer is aimed at guitarists (and more broadly instrumentalists) who want a reverb capable of becoming a central element of their sound, not just a background ambiance effect. It fits perfectly with ambient, post-rock, indie, shoegaze, modern pop, alternative rock styles, and any situation where long reverb tails, modulation movements, and harmonized layers are desired.
In the studio, it excels at thickening a clean take, creating a harmonic bed under a melody, or transforming a simple riff into a soundscape. In live settings, its presets and direct controls allow quick shifts from a short, textured reverb to a massive pad, with a true "performance" logic thanks to the Sustain switch and Trails modes.
Features and Controls: From Fine-Tuning to Sound Design
At the heart of the pedal is an interface designed to sculpt the reverb precisely: Decay adjusts the reverb length, while Mix balances the dry and wet signals. The Filter control adjusts the tone of the decay (darker or brighter), and Depth controls the modulation intensity, ranging from subtle movement to more pronounced oscillations.
The Slöer stands out with its two faders: Stretch manipulates the sample rate, which can extend the sense of space, darken the tone, and introduce an inspiring artistic grain. The X fader controls various parameters depending on the mode (e.g., octave volume, attack time, vibrato intensity, delay tap diffusion, shimmer intensity), going beyond the "classic" reverb settings.
For spatialization, a Stereo-Width selector offers three widths (Wide, Medium, Narrow ) to adapt the perceived stereo field to your setup: stereo amp, two console inputs, or simply a more controlled placement in a mix. The pedal also provides 3 preset slots to save and recall your settings, as well as a choice between Trails (natural decay) and No-Trails (abrupt cutoff). Finally, the Preset Spillover prevents cutting the reverb tail when switching presets using the same algorithm, ideal for seamless transitions between parts.
Sound Character
The Slöer is typically a " cinematic " reverb: expansive, immersive, with a sense of depth that immediately adds dimension to a clean tone, arpeggio, or open chords. The Dark mode favors darker, enveloping atmospheres, Rise offers swell-like rises for dramatic entrances, and Dream emphasizes pads and sustain, with the ability to "freeze" a resonance via the Sustain switch to create an almost infinite bed.
The Rain and Light modes further expand the palette: Rain adds a more "diffuse" and textured character, close to a reverb crossed with repeats, while Light seeks a more airy brightness through an upward harmonized layer. Modulation (5 waveforms: Sine, Warp, Sink, Square, Random ) allows choosing between smooth movement, pronounced wobble, choppy variations, or unpredictability-perfect for lively ambiances. Artist-wise, the Slöer is noted in professional contexts where ambient must remain musical and usable in real situations, with users spanning rock, electro, and alternative genres.

Questions frequently asked
What reverb modes are available on the Walrus Audio Släer Blue?
Five modes are offered: Dark, Rise, Dream, Rain, and Light. They allow for transitions from dark textures to modulated or harmonized soundscapes.
Does the Släer pedal provide a wide stereo reverb?
A Stereo-Width switch offers three settings: Wide, Medium, and Narrow. The processed signal's width can also be adjusted using the Width knob.
How does the Sustain switch work?
The Sustain footswitch increases the reverb time to its maximum. In Dream mode, it can freeze and hold the momentary reverb. This feature facilitates creating continuous soundscapes during playing.
What modulation settings does this reverb offer?
Five waveforms are available: Sine, Warp, Sink, Square, and Random. The Depth, Stretch, and X controls affect modulation, sample rate, and a parameter dependent on the selected program.
What are the pedal's dimensions?
The size measures 122 x 66 x 35 mm.
