A modernized "BB" overdrive for today's pedalboard

The "BB style" circuits are appreciated for their balance between transparency and character: they respect pick attack while adding dense saturation, with rich harmonics and natural sustain. This Wampler interpretation captures that "amp singing" spirit and adds voicing and gain options designed to cover multiple needs, from a gritty boost to a thicker drive for solos.

For whom, which styles, and in what contexts?

This pedal is aimed both at beginner guitarists seeking a versatile first overdrive and experienced musicians looking for a main drive that sits easily in a mix. It excels in blues, rock, pop, country, and works very well as a complement to an already slightly pushed amp.

On stage, it provides consistent gain from one backline to another thanks to the EQ and presence controls. In the studio, it's ideal for layering rhythm takes: the presence setting helps maintain definition without making the sound harsh.

Settings and options: shape your overdrive in one move

The pedal offers a clear, results-oriented control section: Volume to balance output level, Gain to adjust saturation, then Bass and Treble to fine-tune tonal balance depending on your guitar (single coils or humbuckers) and amp. The Presence control affects the upper spectrum and attack: useful for adding bite in a mix or smoothing a very bright amp.

The three gain levels and three overdrive voicings allow you to quickly find the "right" behavior: more open and dynamic for breathing rhythms, tighter for precise riffs, or richer in mids to highlight a lead. This is a very effective approach to adapt the pedal to your gear without spending hours rebalancing everything.

The sound

Expect a meaty and responsive overdrive, with a great "amp touch" feel. The attack remains clear, chords keep separation, and saturation rises progressively, which helps control gain with the guitar's volume knob. Depending on the chosen voicing and gain level, it ranges from an elegant, slightly compressed crunch to a denser drive, ideal for thickening a clean tone or adding body to an already saturated channel.

Thanks to the 2-band EQ and presence, it's easy to fit the pedal into very different setups: bright guitar on a clean amp, humbuckers on a loaded amp, or a pedalboard with multiple drives in cascade. This is typically the kind of overdrive that quickly becomes a "always on" when you're looking for a bigger, livelier sound without losing your instrument's identity.
