A RockBass Designed to Bring Warwick DNA Within Reach
This bass embodies the RockBass spirit: offering Warwick's signature ergonomics and technical choices (in-house hardware, 2-piece bridge, reliability-focused approach) in an accessible and straightforward package. The P/J pickup duo and active electronics make it an instrument tailored to cover many playing contexts, from home practice to first gigs.
Who Is It For, and Which Styles?
With its 4-string format and long scale, this model is well suited for serious beginners as well as intermediate bassists seeking a versatile bass for all purposes. The P/J configuration excels in rock, pop, funk, and metal (with a more precise attack on the J side), while remaining comfortable with rounder tones for soul and "old school" grooves (P pickup).
The Sound
The combination of passive MEC P + passive MEC J pickups offers a highly usable palette: the P pickup delivers solid low mids, ideal for anchoring the mix, while the J pickup adds definition and presence in the attack. The RockBass active electronics with Volume, Balance, Treble, and Bass controls allow quick tonal adjustments: more lows to thicken the sound, more highs to highlight fingerstyle or pick playing. The craftsmanship (body in Carolina pine, 3-piece bolt-on neck in maple/ekanga, wenge fingerboard) promotes dynamic response and clear note articulation, with sustain supported by the Warwick 2-piece bridge.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The bass is strung with .045-.105 gauge strings: you can stick with a 4-string long scale 34" / 863.6 mm setup in this gauge (or close) to maintain the original balance. The Student Line RockBag RB 20515 B/PLUS gig bag is included, convenient for transport and lessons.
