A Compact Format for Practising Guitar and Singing
The Woodbrass GA15 is designed for guitarists looking for an easy-to-use acoustic guitar amplifier without having to rely on multiple devices. Its instrument input and microphone input allow you to bring guitar and vocals together through a single amplifier. The front-panel controls are directly accessible, making initial adjustments easy, whether you are just getting started with amplification or looking for a practical setup for regular playing.
With its 15 W RMS power rating, it naturally fits into home use, whether you are rehearsing an accompaniment, preparing a song or playing with another musician at a moderate volume. Its 32 x 30 x 18 cm dimensions and 5.26 kg weight make it easy to move between sessions without the constraints of a larger setup.
Folk, acoustic pop, singer-songwriter music or fingerpicked patterns: the GA15 is suited to playing situations where you want to hear the instrument and vocals clearly. Above all, it is a convenient solution for practising and refining your songs. For live performances, whether its power is suitable will depend on the venue, the audience and the volume level of the other instruments.
Direct Controls for Finding Your Balance
The front panel features a XLR microphone input with its own volume control, as well as a guitar input in 6.35 mm Jack format, also equipped with a dedicated volume control. This allows you to adjust the balance between each source: bring the vocals forward during a light accompaniment, or give the guitar more presence during an instrumental passage.
The Active/Passive input selector completes the instrument section. The EQ features three separate controls for bass, mids and treble. This layout allows you to refine the sound gradually, without navigating through menus. To get started, set the controls to a middle position, then adjust each band while listening to its effect on your guitar.
The 3.5 mm mini-jack auxiliary input allows you to connect a compatible external audio source to practise along with an accompaniment. The headphone output, in the same format, provides another listening option during practice sessions. A red indicator shows that the amplifier is switched on, while the ON/OFF switch controls power-up and shutdown. The power cable is located on the left side of the rear panel.
EQ to Bring Out Your Acoustic Playing
With an acoustic-electric guitar, the balance between the warmth of the bass, the presence of the mids and the clarity of the treble matters just as much as volume. The GA15's three controls give you access to these essential areas. You can aim for a warmer accompaniment, make the notes of an arpeggio stand out more clearly or soften an overly sharp top end.
The result also depends on your guitar's pickup, any onboard preamp and your playing attack. Take the time to balance these elements before increasing the level. The 6-inch loudspeaker is part of a compact configuration: to maintain a clear sound, adjust the volume to the room rather than trying to compete with a very loud band.
