The Yamaha Custom Series: A Reference Built with Artists
Yamaha develops its "Custom" mouthpieces based on long-term collaboration with leading musicians. The goal is simple: to offer a mouthpiece that is both inspiring and consistent, capable of meeting the demands of professional playing. From initial shaping to hand finishing, each step is overseen by experienced craftsmen to ensure consistent manufacturing quality and an immediately familiar playing feel.
For Which Musician and Styles?
This Yamaha Custom mouthpiece is primarily aimed at experienced musicians seeking powerful volume and an extensive palette of timbres. It is particularly suitable for contexts where intonation must remain stable (orchestra, chamber music, studio) while maintaining the flexibility needed to shape the sound (jazz, pop, ensembles, soloists). Its balance makes it a relevant choice for those who want a reliable "work" mouthpiece capable of withstanding long sessions.
Sound and Design
Carved from high-quality ebonite, this mouthpiece offers a naturally warm timbre, with a pleasant sense of density and depth, without losing clarity. The 1.15 mm tip opening promotes controlled emission: the attack is clear, dynamic control is precise, and pitch remains stable when pushing volume.
The 21 mm chamber length contributes to overall balance: a homogeneous response and projection that remains musical, useful for transitioning from a round sound to a more present tone depending on the reed and air. The whole design aims for immediate playing comfort, with clear intonation and a rich sound that is easy to work with.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This mouthpiece is delivered without accessories, so be sure to provide equipment suited to your setup (ligature and mouthpiece cap). Compatibility depends on the instrument and the exact mouthpiece size: choose accessories specifically designed for your model.
