An Arius Designed for Progressing at Home, Without Excess
The Yamaha YDP-105 belongs to the Arius series, a range known for offering accessible, reliable, and practical furniture-style digital pianos. Here, Yamaha focuses on the essentials needed to start well and strengthen technique: a consistent weighted touch, a credible piano sound, and simple ergonomics ideal for the living room, bedroom, or music corner. Its furniture-style design provides a strong visual presence while maintaining straightforward and reassuring daily use.
Keyboard Design
The GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) 88-key keyboard replicates a graded hammer mechanism: heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble. This behavior promotes finger placement, independence, and dynamic control whether playing chords, arpeggios, or delicate melodic lines. The adjustable sensitivity (Hard, Medium, Soft, Fixed) allows you to tailor the response to your touch, repertoire, and comfort, whether you have a light or more forceful playing style.
Sound Quality
The AWM Stereo Sampling sound engine emphasizes clear and musical reproduction, with 10 built-in voices focused on the needs of a versatile home piano. The addition of damper resonance enhances the sustain feel, adding more depth and continuity to chord holds. With a 64-note polyphony, your passages remain smooth for study and performance. For sound projection, the 2 x 6 W amplification powers two 12 cm speakers for balanced room listening, while the 2 headphone outputs allow discreet practice alone or with a partner.
