Keyboard Design

The GrandTouch 88-key keyboard combines wooden keys (white), surfaces resembling ebony and synthetic ivory, an escapement, and counterweights for precise feedback, particularly appreciated in pianissimo and fortissimo. The response is enhanced by Linear Graded Hammers across 88 keys to achieve a natural transition from bass to treble. Sensitivity is adjustable (Hard2, Hard1, Medium, Soft1, Soft2, Fixed) to adapt the touch to your technique, repertoire, and playing dynamics.

Sound Quality

The piano section relies on two reference instruments: the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. For headphone playing, binaural recording (on "CFX Grand" and "Bösendorfer") enhances spatial sensation and reduces the "in-the-head" effect. Realism is further enhanced by Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), simulating resonances (strings, soundboard, harmonic interactions), and by Grand Expression Modeling for a more organic response to attack. With a maximum polyphony of 256 notes and a broad sound palette (53 Voices + 480 XG Voices + 14 Drum/SFX Kits), the CLP-885 remains fluid when layering, splitting, and using pedals.

Built-in Effects
