40 Years of the L Series: an LJ6 in the "modern vintage" spirit
To celebrate 40 years of the L series, Yamaha has updated the 6 series with a solid Engelmann spruce top benefiting from A.R.E. (Accelerated Aging) treatment and new bracing designed to gain power while maintaining a balanced register. The whole is set in a classic aesthetic, enhanced by very discreet passive electronics, ideal for guitarists who want the best of both worlds: tradition and stage efficiency.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
The Yamaha LJ6 is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive instrument for accompaniment, songwriting, and stage use. Its Jumbo body highlights strumming, folk, pop, variety, and anything requiring a wide and stable rhythmic base, while remaining precise when playing finer arpeggios.
Sound
The solid Engelmann spruce top delivers a soft attack, rich in nuances, with beautiful definition in the upper spectrum. The A.R.E. treatment aims for a "played-in" feel, with freer response and more present harmonics. The rosewood back and sides add depth and complexity, reinforcing the bass and sustain while maintaining clear highs. The Jumbo shape (here "Medium Jumbo") promotes generous projection and solid low-mids, perfect for supporting vocals. For amplification, the SRT Zero Impact Pickup (passive) favors a natural and discreet sound, suitable for simple setups (DI, external preamp, mixing console) without burdening the instrument with a bulky visible preamp.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes with a hard bag (reinforced case) for transport. For daily protection, a universal humidifier for acoustic guitars can help stabilize the instrument when the air is too dry.
