Essential Information About the Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 Guitar

  • Chambered body designed using Yamaha's Acoustic Design process: more resonance, less weight, better balance.

  • Two Alnico V humbuckers (VH3n / VH3b) for a powerful, dense, and warm sound.

  • Dry Switch (high-pass filter) integrated into the push-pull tone control to tighten the bass and emphasize the treble without volume loss.

  • "Café racer" style and set neck construction for excellent sustain and a true premium "solid body" feel.

Revstar: Yamaha's Modern Electric Series, Designed as a Standalone Range

Initially launched in 2015, the Revstar family marks Yamaha's return to an electric guitar series developed with a strong identity, inspired both by the brand's luthiery expertise and the "mechanical" aesthetic derived from Yamaha Motor's heritage. The current generation is structured into three levels (Element, Standard, Professional handcrafted in Japan) and shares a key feature: the chambered body optimized for resonance and comfort. The RSE20 represents the entry-level Revstar... but with a design and switching options that clearly place it above a simple "first electric guitar."

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

The Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 is aimed at serious beginners to intermediate guitarists who want a reliable, expressive, and versatile guitar, as well as experienced musicians looking for a comfortable solid body with a distinctive character. Its dual humbucker configuration is ideal for rock, blues, indie, pop, and heavier genres, while remaining relevant for clear, defined tones thanks to the Dry Switch.

Sound

The pair of VH3 Alnico V humbuckers delivers a firm attack, rich mids, and well-controlled low end: perfect for thick riffs, articulate crunches, and singing solos. The chambered mahogany body adds air and resonance while reducing weight, and the set neck promotes natural sustain and smooth note transitions. Pulling the tone control activates the Dry Switch, acting as a high-pass filter: the sound gains precision, bass tightens, and treble stands out more, helping to cut through a mix without becoming harsh.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original feel, this guitar perfectly accommodates a 010-046 string set (like the gauge provided). You can also consider a strap and plectrums suited to your playing style: universal and essential accessories to make the most of the RSE20 in rehearsal and on stage.
