Essential Information About the Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 Guitar

  • Chambered body designed using Yamaha's Acoustic Design process: more resonance, less weight, optimized balance.

  • Two Alnico V humbuckers (VH3n/VH3b): solid attack, warm mids, and powerful sound, ideal for rock and related genres.

  • Dry Switch (push-pull on the tone control): high-pass filter for tighter bass and more present highs, without volume drop.

  • Single cut format with Tune-O-Matic/Stopbar hardware: generous sustain and daily tuning stability.

An "Element" Revstar at the Heart of Yamaha's Electric Revival

Revived after the introduction of the Revstar in 2015, the Revstar series is organized into three levels (Element, Standard, and Professional) and claims an identity inspired by "café racer" design. The RSE20 embodies the entry into the Revstar universe with the essentials of Yamaha's philosophy: a modern instrument, conceived through both engineering and luthiery, featuring a chambered body crafted to optimize acoustic response, resonance, and playing balance.

For Whom and Which Styles

The Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 is aimed at demanding beginners as well as intermediate guitarists who want a reliable, comfortable, and versatile electric guitar, as well as stage musicians seeking a "plug and play" guitar. Its 2-humbucker configuration and 3-position selector naturally cover rock, blues, indie, pop, and more saturated styles, while maintaining definition for clean tones.

Sound

The chambered mahogany body provides a warm foundation, with rich low-mids and a more "alive" resonance feel under the fingers, while improving comfort thanks to controlled weight. The VH3n (neck) and VH3b (bridge) humbuckers, equipped with Alnico V magnets, deliver a full and energetic sound: roundness and thickness at the neck, bite and precision at the bridge, with sustain enhanced by the Tune-O-Matic and Stopbar setup. The Dry Switch (push-pull tone) acts as a high-pass filter: it tightens the bass and highlights the highs to gain clarity in the mix, particularly useful for crunch and distortion.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This guitar comes stock with D'Addario EXL110 strings in gauge 0.010-0.046: you can keep this gauge for a balance of comfort and attack, or stick to the same reference when replacing strings to immediately regain the same feel and tension.
