Revstar: a modern series inspired by Yamaha's DNA

Initially launched in 2015, the Revstar range marks Yamaha's return to a series of electric guitars with a strong design, fueled both by the brand's lutherie expertise and the "engineering & design" heritage of Yamaha Motor Co. In the new generation, the Revstar is organized into three levels (Element, Standard, Professional), and the RSE20L is positioned as an Element model designed to focus on essentials while retaining the series' key innovation: the chambered body optimized by the Acoustic Design process.

The Yamaha RSE20L is aimed at serious beginner to intermediate left-handed guitarists who want a reliable, expressive electric guitar ready for both stage and home studio. Its 2 humbuckers configuration and 3-position selector naturally cover rock, blues, pop, indie, and moderate hard rock styles, with enough nuance for clearer and more articulate tones via the Dry Switch.

Sound characteristics

The chambered mahogany body + mahogany neck combination delivers a warm register, with a dense midrange feel and generous sustain, while gaining resonance thanks to the internal chambers. The VH3 (Alnico V) humbuckers provide a full and dynamic sound: solid lows, present mids, and precise attack, ideal for riffs and singing leads. The Dry Switch, integrated into the push-pull tone control, acts as a high-pass filter: it refines the low end and adds bite, useful for cutting through the mix without sounding too harsh.
