The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive and versatile electric guitar without unnecessary complexity. Thanks to its P90 pickups and intermediate positions, it excels in rock, indie, blues, pop, and garage, while remaining very credible in clean tones for precise rhythm playing. Its 24-3/4" / 628.6 mm scale length offers a smooth feel under the fingers, ideal for bends and comfortable playing with standard string gauges.

Sound Characteristics

The RSS02T combines a chambered mahogany body with a maple top: mahogany provides body, mid-low warmth, and a nice roundness, while maple adds definition and bite to the attack. The two P90 VP5 (Alnico V) pickups deliver a dense and open tone, beefier than a standard single coil, with excellent response to the guitar's volume control. The 5-position selector offers particularly usable intermediate textures, and the Focus Switch (push/pull) acts as a passive character boost, reminiscent of a humbucker's energy to thicken the sound without losing the P90 identity. The set neck construction and carbon reinforcements in the neck enhance stability and support solid sustain, even with modern distortion.
