Initially launched in 2015, the Revstar family marks Yamaha's return to the forefront of electric guitars after more than a decade, with a strong identity inspired by the motorcycle world and the Café racer spirit. The RSS02T belongs to the Revstar Standard series and incorporates the chambered body concept developed through Yamaha's Acoustic Design process: the goal is to "sculpt" the instrument's acoustic response to gain resonance and comfort without sacrificing sustain.

The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a versatile electric guitar with a sleek look, capable of handling both pick playing and finger nuances. Its P90s excel particularly in rock, blues, garage, indie, and pop, with a dynamic response ideal for playing with volume and attack. The glued neck and 24-3/4" / 628.6 mm scale length promote a smooth feel, pleasant for bends and vibratos.

The Sound

The combination of maple top + chambered mahogany provides a very musical balance: maple emphasizes attack and clarity, while mahogany adds warmth and body. The two P90 VP5 pickups deliver a mid-rich tone, sharper and more open than humbuckers, while remaining thicker than many single-coils. The 5-position selector switch allows exploration of textures inspired by "in-between" sounds, and the Focus Switch (push/pull) acts as a passive boost to thicken the signal and enhance character, useful for switching from a clear, articulate tone to a more aggressive crunch without changing amp settings.
