Wayne Bergeron is internationally recognized for his brilliant playing and ability to adapt to very diverse contexts. He joined Yamaha's R&D team in 2006 for the initial development of the YTR-8335LA(S). This Custom trumpet has since evolved into the second generation, featuring a targeted redesign of the most critical elements for response, flexibility, and intonation stability, to meet the demands of a musician constantly engaged in productions and styles that vary widely.

The Yamaha YTR-8335LA(S) is aimed at advanced and professional trumpeters seeking a B-flat trumpet capable of covering a wide musical spectrum: jazz, big band, film and studio music, pop, orchestra, and all situations where presence, precision, and flexibility are expected. Its setup emphasizes a balance between playing comfort, stability, and brilliance, while retaining body in softer dynamics.

Sound and Design

The heart of a trumpet's behavior lies in its piston block : on this 2nd generation model, Yamaha meticulously analyzed parts, materials, and processes, increasing mass, introducing a new production method, and using thinner spacers. The result: a better calibrated airflow resistance, a more powerful sound, and crisper articulation, without losing the essential flexibility for modern playing.

The heavy caps under the pistons made of phosphor bronze alloy, in direct contact with the block, strongly influence vibration and thus the tonal color. They provide increased responsiveness, more depth, and a fuller sound in piano dynamics, while supporting bright highs and precise intonation. On the bell side, the French-style rim (semi-flat edge) improves comfort and encourages a more generous sound feedback to the player, while the side seam helps the bell vibrate more freely for a wider sound projection.

This trumpet comes with a Yamaha TR-14B4 mouthpiece and a TRC-801E case. To complete your setup without compatibility issues, you can add a trumpet swab (for internal maintenance), a brass cleaning kit, as well as piston oil and slide grease suitable for trumpets.
