Pure and honest sound - 1-inch dual-diaphragm capsule
Whether you’re recording in a large concert hall or a one-room studio, you want to capture the emotion and the moment, not just the sound. With a full frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and the lowest self-noise in its class, the C314 brings out the best in every nuance. Built on the rich heritage of the C414 XLS capsule, its two computer-matched diaphragms ensure the highest polar pattern accuracy, while the integrated suspension significantly reduces noise for pure and faithful recordings.
Tuned to capture every nuance - four selectable polar patterns
The versatile C314 is the multi-instrumentalist of your microphone setup, ready to be used wherever you need it. Whether cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional, or figure-8 polar patterns, there are many ways to achieve the most natural sound from any instrument – electric and acoustic guitars, drums, and more. Use a supercardioid pattern to reduce drum bleed, then quickly switch to a figure-8 pattern to balance two vocalists. These easily accessible options make the AKG C314 an excellent addition to any studio with limited space.
Never be overloaded - overload detection LED and low-cut filter
With a variety of thoughtful extras, the AKG C314 lets you make better recordings with ease. Acting as both artist and engineer, its overload detection LED makes it easy to see when your input levels are too high. This allows you to fully utilize the microphone’s huge dynamic range and engage the pad only when necessary. Its low-cut filter also helps reduce rumble, vibrations, and loud, powerful sounds, minimizing proximity effect for balanced recordings.

Questions frequently asked
What polar patterns does the AKG C314 microphone offer?
The four selectable polar patterns are cardioid, omnidirectional, supercardioid, and figure-8. The 1-inch dual-diaphragm capsule is based on that of the C414 XLS.
Does the C314 require phantom power?
Phantom power +48 V, with a tolerance of ±4 V, is required via the 3-pin XLR connector.
What is the maximum SPL this microphone can handle?
The -20 dB attenuator pad increases the handling capacity. The maximum SPL is rated at 135 dB without the pad and 155 dB with the pad. An overload detection LED indicates when the input level is too high.
What accessories are included with this Stock-B unit?
The package includes the H85 elastic suspension, metal case, SA60 stand adapter, and W214 windscreen. The Stock-B unit is sold with microphone and accessories in like-new condition, while the carrying case has a perforation on the back. The warranty is 6 months.
AKG C314 for acoustic guitar and vocals: which polar pattern settings?
With cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional, or figure-8 modes, different recordings can be considered for acoustic guitar and voice. The supercardioid mode helps reduce drum bleed, and the figure-8 allows balancing two singers.
