A Concert Model in a Reduced Size in the Spirit of the 9 P Series

The Alhambra 9 P is appreciated for its "concert" approach: a feeling of solidity, overall balance, and refined finishes. In this 1/2 version, the goal remains the same: to maintain a true luthier guitar personality while offering a more compact and physically accessible instrument. From the 8 P series onwards, manufacturing is entrusted to a small group of artisans: this is reflected in the attention to detail, choice of woods, and overall consistency, with a refined aesthetic highlighting the combination of a selected soundboard and a superb solid Indian rosewood.

Who Is This 1/2 Classical Guitar For?

This classical guitar is particularly suitable for young musicians, guitarists seeking a shorter scale, or those who prioritize a comfortable instrument for long practice sessions without fatigue. Its balanced character and projection make it an excellent partner for study (conservatory, private lessons) as well as for enjoyment at home. Regarding repertoire, it performs well in classical and Spanish styles as well as in acoustic music requiring articulation, roundness, and nuances. The action described as "high enough to make the guitar sing but extremely comfortable" highlights a compromise: enough substance under the fingers for dynamics without sacrificing playability.

The Sound

The sound personality of this Alhambra relies on a combination of lutherie choices and materials. The guitar features a solid top in red cedar or German spruce (depending on the version): cedar is generally sought after for its immediate response, warmth, and color, while spruce is appreciated for its clarity, dynamic range, and definition. The back and sides in solid Indian rosewood provide depth, bass foundation, and a sense of harmonic "width," contributing to the deep sound and rich timbre described for this model.

Projection is supported by a bridge-shaped bracing designed to extract maximum volume and projection from the soundboard. Added to this are a bone nut and a bone saddle, a traditional material known for excellent vibration transmission and attack precision. Finally, the nitrocellulose lacquer applied to the top is mentioned as an asset: this type of finish, when thin and well executed, can enhance the sensation of vibration and instrument responsiveness. The expected result: balanced bass, midrange, and treble and a first string particularly attractive for its brightness and quality, ideal for working on musicality, intonation accuracy, and expressive range.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the most out of this size, a nylon string set with gauge adapted to the 1/2 size (scale length 544 mm / 21.4") is a relevant choice when replacing strings. A clip-on tuner and a footrest are perfectly suited for classical guitar practice and immediately improve comfort and posture. The supplied 9569 case is ideal for daily transport and protection.
