An entry-level model in the TrueMix series, focused on the essentials
The most compact and affordable model in the TrueMix series, the TrueMix 500 goes straight to the point: offering a reliable solution to manage a few sources and produce clean stereo recordings without unnecessary complexity. It positions itself as a "plug and play" mixer for those who want a versatile analog console, capable of serving both as a small audio routing center and a USB capture interface.
Who is it for and what are its uses?
The Alto Professional TrueMix 500 is aimed at musicians and creators who need quick mixing on a daily basis: small group rehearsals, stereo keyboard or synthesizer, background audio playback for practice, or home recording of performances. Thanks to its connectivity and USB interface, it is particularly suitable for a lightweight setup where you want to both mix and record without multiplying devices.
Immediate control, practical connectivity, and USB recording
A clear input section for microphone and stereo sources
The TrueMix 500 offers five input channels organized to cover the most common needs. You have a microphone channel with an XLR input and permanently activated +18V phantom power, as well as a line input in jack format on the same channel. Alongside it, two stereo channels each provide two balanced jack inputs, ideal for connecting instruments or line-level devices such as a digital piano, synthesizer, or drum machine outputs.
Consistent controls for fast (and good) mixing
To remain intuitive, the console adopts a consistent approach across channels: a gain control, a 2-band EQ to adjust bass and treble, a pan control to position sources in the stereo field, and a level control to balance the mix. This "no surprises" operation allows you to quickly find the right settings, whether on a small stage, in rehearsal, or during a home recording session.
Main outputs, 2-Track, and headphone monitoring
On the output side, the TrueMix 500 provides a main output on a pair of jacks, complemented by a 2-Track input/output in RCA format. This 2-Track section is convenient for sending music from a smartphone or to feed an external recorder. Depending on the need, the 2-Track output can also be routed to the headphones, or to the main output and USB, which facilitates reference listening, playback rehearsals, and quick level checks.
USB Interface: record and play audio from the computer
The TrueMix 500 integrates a USB interface to connect to a computer (Windows or Mac OS) and perform stereo recordings of your performances. In the other direction, it also allows playback of content streamed from the computer directly into the console, a real advantage for working, practicing, and alternating between recording and listening without changing cables.
