Waza Craft: The Return of a Legendary BOSS Delay

Discontinued in 1984, the original DM-2 has remained a benchmark for guitarists seeking an analog delay with a warm and lively character. The Boss DM-2W revives this signature in a special Waza Craft edition, designed to deliver the most refined BOSS experience: a fully analog circuit, authentic reproduction of the historic DM-2 behavior in Standard mode, and a more modern Custom mode to meet current needs (longer delay times, better definition).

Who Is the DM-2W For, and Which Styles Does It Excel In?

The DM-2W is aimed both at guitarists looking for their first character delay and pedalboard enthusiasts seeking a true analog delay to complement a digital delay. It shines in blues, rock, indie, pop, and any style requiring repeats that blend naturally into the mix. In the studio, it adds immediate depth to leads and rhythm parts. On stage, its compact size and intuitive controls allow quick transitions from a short slapback to a more enveloping echo in seconds.

Controls, Modes, and Connectivity: Simple, Effective, Inspiring

The DM-2W focuses on essentials with typical BOSS ergonomics: you adjust the Repeat Rate (speed/delay time), Intensity (number of repeats up to self-oscillation), and Echo level (amount of delay signal). The mode switch provides access to two personalities: Standard to recapture the behavior of the vintage DM-2, and Custom for a longer, clearer analog delay, very useful when you want wider soundscapes or more defined repeats.

Regarding connections, the essentials are covered: one input, one main output, plus a DIRECT OUT to isolate the dry signal from the delayed signal. The RATE jack (6.35mm TRS) allows connecting an expression pedal to control delay time with your foot, perfect for expressive transitions, controlled swells, or subtle pitch effects when adjusting delay time while playing.

Sound

The DM-2W offers an analog delay with a warm grain and natural decay: repeats gradually soften, preventing clutter and delivering the typical "organic" feel of bucket brigade circuits. In Standard mode, you get a decidedly vintage texture, ideal for thickening a solo, creating a short, punchy slapback, or adding depth to rhythm parts. The Custom mode retains analog warmth while providing greater clarity and an extended delay time, useful for broader atmospheres, longer patterns, and more present echoes without losing musical character.
