A nod to the legendary treble booster, revamped for modern pedalboards
The Broadway follows the grand tradition of Rangemaster-inspired treble boosters: an effect born to add bite, tighten the low end, and push a tube amp's input towards a more aggressive crunch. Here, CopperSound retains the vintage DNA (germanium, grain, responsiveness), while adding modern features tailored for the stage, notably advanced switching and a more versatile voicing thanks to the blade selector.
Who the Broadway is for: from incisive rock riffs to leads that cut through the mix
The Broadway is ideal if you're looking for an articulated treble boost to make a guitar stand out in a band, thicken a solo, or add more snap to a somewhat dark amp. It especially appeals to blues, classic rock, garage, indie guitarists and anyone who likes to control gain with the guitar's volume and pick attack.
In the studio, it serves both as a character preamp to reshape the contour of a take and as a booster to drive a preamp stage. Live, the momentary mode becomes a real musical tool: a long press instantly brings your phrase to the forefront.
Controls and features: vintage simplicity, smart control
The interface is deliberately straightforward: a Volume potentiometer manages the boost level and how you load your amp's input or the next pedal. The Blade Switch offers three EQ settings (neck / middle / bridge) that change the curve to suit your guitar, pickups, and rig.
On the switching side, the Smart Bypass relies on relay true bypass: short press to toggle the pedal on/off, long press to trigger a momentary mode (disablable via an internal selector). To protect your signal on stage, a safety system automatically returns the pedal to bypass if power is cut.
The sound
Expect a lively and tactile germanium signature: a boost that adds presence, sharper attack, and a "short cable" feel thanks to its immediate response. The low end remains more controlled, helping to clean up a flubby amp or clarify humbuckers, while the upper mids gain projection.
Depending on the Blade Switch position, you'll move from a rounder, more musical sparkle to a sharper, biting cut ideal for leads. Pushing the Volume, the Broadway can also flirt with rougher, fuzz-like textures to the touch, perfect for vintage riffs and singing solos.

Questions frequently asked
What sound does the CopperSound Broadway '52 Butterscotch - Black Guard deliver?
The germanium transistor circuit OC44 / CV3007 provides presence and attack, with a tightened low end. The gain, exceeding 30 dB, can drive an amp input towards a punchy crunch and rougher textures.
What are the neck, middle, and bridge positions of the Blade Switch for?
The Blade Switch selects three EQ curves named neck, middle, and bridge. These positions allow adapting the boost response to the pickups and the tonal character of the rig.
Does the pedal have a momentary mode?
A long press on the footswitch activates the boost only while pressed, whereas a short press toggles on/off. The momentary mode can be disabled via an internal DIP switch. The Smart Bypass uses a relay true bypass and automatically switches to bypass when power is cut.
What power supply is required for this CopperSound pedal?
The required power supply is 9 V DC center negative, drawing 5 mA. Battery operation is not supported.
What connectivity and size does it have for a pedalboard?
Connectivity includes a 6.35 mm mono jack input and output, with an input impedance of 1 MΩ and output impedance of 10 kΩ. The enclosure measures 11.9 x 10.1 x 6.2 cm including hardware and weighs 0.41 kg.
