An "Artisan" Bass Designed for Demanding Bassists
Manufactured by Cort, a brand renowned for decades for its attention to detail and excellent value for money, the SPACE 4 BSDB embodies the spirit of performance-oriented instruments. It follows the codes of high-end modern basses: carefully selected woods, up-to-date finishes, and reference electronics to cover a wide range of tones, from clean to aggressive.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
The Cort SPACE 4 BSDB targets intermediate to advanced bassists seeking an expressive, comfortable, and versatile 4-string bass. Its modern architecture and active EQ make it an excellent partner for pop, rock, funk, gospel, and more contemporary music styles where definition, attack, and presence in the mix are essential. It is also very suitable for studio settings when you need to quickly switch from a round to a more punchy sound.
Sound Characteristics
The maple body promotes a crisp attack, good clarity, and tight lows, ideal for precise and articulated lines. The figured poplar top mainly provides a strong visual identity while maintaining a balanced response. The 7-piece neck (torrefied maple, walnut, purpleheart, maple) contributes to stability and sustain, with a pleasant rigidity under the fingers. On the electronics side, the two Bartolini MK-1 humbuckers deliver a full, modern, and quiet sound, while the active MK-1 EQ allows quick adjustment of the low-end foundation, midrange presence, and brightness to adapt to any amp and playing style. The presence of a zero fret helps to even out the response between open strings and fretted notes.
