The Triptychon’s amp section goes independent
The CTC Rapture takes the entire amp and drive section of the Triptychon and puts it into a dedicated pedal. It responds to requests from users, influencers and retailers who wanted to enjoy this sonic foundation independently from the rest of the Triptychon. The approach remains that of a classic tube amp pushed to its sweet spot, when the clean sound begins to thicken and compress.
This standalone version adds the MORE and MOD switches to the original circuit. With both switches in the down position, you get exactly the Triptychon’s drive circuit and voicing. The other combinations expand the possibilities without abandoning this philosophy of expressive, low- to moderate-gain overdrive.
A lively sonic foundation for blues, rock and your gain stacking
The Rapture is aimed at guitarists who shape their sound as much with their fingers as with their settings. In blues, rock or more nuanced passages, it lets you move from an almost-clean sound to a more biting crunch simply by varying your attack. Its accessible operation makes it equally suitable for a first approach to overdrive or for an already refined pedalboard.
In rehearsal, on stage or in the studio, it can become your " always on " pedal: this key element of grit and density that you keep active to give your sound more dimension. It also works extremely well with fuzzes and boosts. Its role is then to complement the character of your guitar, pickups and amp rather than impose a uniform color on them.
Three knobs, two switches and genuine nuances under your fingers
Drive controls the gain and the intensity of the amp-style compression. At low settings, it emphasizes subtle coloration, harmonics and touch sensitivity; as you turn it up, it introduces more overdrive. Tone adjusts the tonal balance while preserving the fundamental personality of the instrument and amp. Master controls the output, from a level close to the original signal to a boost capable of driving the amp or the following gain stage.
The MORE switch increases the available gain, with the result depending on the Drive setting and the MOD position. The MOD switch alters the clipping: when activated, the circuit produces less clipping and offers a more open response. Their interaction lets you fine-tune the dynamic headroom, compression, harmonic richness and feel of the saturation.
Activation is handled by a soft-click footswitch paired with a high-quality true-bypass relay. When the pedal is powered on, it defaults to bypass mode: you choose when its drive enters your chain.
The sound
The Rapture aims to reproduce the behavior of a well-pushed tube amp rather than massive saturation. The sound gains harmonic richness, with natural compression that responds to your playing. A gentle attack retains openness; a firmer attack brings out more grit, compression and aggression. This gradual transition is at the heart of its character.
The coloration remains adjustable: subtle for bringing a clean sound to life, more pronounced for establishing a crunch, or more open thanks to MOD. By working with Drive, MORE and MOD, you can favor the smoothness of the compression or a broader response. The Rapture is therefore particularly well suited if you are looking for a touch-responsive overdrive capable of remaining expressive within a gain chain.
