A "bite-sized Echo Dream": the Death By Audio spirit, Micro version

The MICRO DREAM carries the DNA of Death By Audio delays: a thick, lively, imperfect repetition in the best sense, designed to add character rather than clinical precision. It stands as a simpler and smaller version of the Echo Dream 2, retaining that "decayed delay" aspect that instantly thickens a riff, while adding a more pronounced grain when the delay time is extended.

Result: a pedal that doesn't aim to imitate a hi-fi rack, but to become a true texture tool. The more you push it, the more it "protests" with lo-fi artifacts and progressive degradation, ideal for psychedelic, noise, post-punk, garage sounds, and all aesthetics that appreciate depth.

Which guitarists and styles is the MICRO DREAM made for?

The MICRO DREAM suits both the guitarist seeking a always musical delay and the tinkerer who likes flirting with chaos. In short, it works equally well in subtle settings (doubling, slapback, thickness on a lead) as in more experimental terrain (grainy repeats, pseudo-looping, controlled oscillations).

It is particularly formidable with a fuzz or in an already saturated amp : the delay doesn't just repeat, it thickens and "glues" to the sound, maintaining a presence that sits well in a band mix. In the studio, it excels at dirtifying a take cleanly and adding movement. Live, its compact format and three main controls make it quick to master on a pedalboard.

Controls, internal trimpot, and feedback behavior

The MICRO DREAM gets straight to the point with three potentiometers: Fback (amount of repeats), Time (delay time), and Delay (level of delayed signal). The Time can go up to 1,000 ms : the closer you get to longer values, the more granular the repeats become, with a lo-fi character integral to the pedal's signature.

The highlight is the internal setting : a trimpot allows you to adjust the threshold where Fback switches to self-oscillation. You can thus calibrate the pedal according to your use: stay in a very harmonious "sweet spot" zone for an always-on delay, or make the oscillation onset more accessible to create swells, drones, and echo explosions. True Bypass preserves your original tone when the effect is off.

Sound

The MICRO DREAM delivers a thick repetition, slightly compressed, with a progressive degradation reminiscent of vintage delays, without trying to be a faithful "tape" or "bucket brigade" copy. At short values, it serves as a subtle doubling or a snappy slapback, with a character that remains present without overwhelming. As you extend the Time, the texture becomes more "chewy," darker, and dirtier, with repeats that stretch and crumple in a very inspiring way.

Dynamic-wise, it reacts well to playing: lowering the guitar volume or softening the attack keeps cleaner, more blended echoes; playing hard (or stacking fuzz/overdrive) yields a wall of granular repeats that thickens the signal. This pedal is notably used by Lee Kiernan (IDLES) and Michael Lemmo, illustrating its positioning: a simple delay machine full of personality, comfortable from rock to noise music.
