The essentials to know about the Plumes Jr MOSFET Mod pedal
- Three clipping modes, taking you from compressed crunch to an open boost, all the way to a more biting MOSFET overdrive.
- A specific M mode, rich in harmonics, with more low end and a response reminiscent of a modern high-gain tube amplifier.
- Three straightforward controls: Gain, Tone and Level, for adjusting saturation, tonal balance and output volume.
- True mechanical bypass and a standard 9 V power supply with a center-negative connector.

The Plumes Spirit, with a New MOSFET Personality
The Plumes Jr MOSFET Mod " Small Signal Shredder " builds on the foundations of the original Plumes while offering a different approach to overdrive. It retains its tone controls and two of its clipping modes, L and N. These two positions recreate the textures of the original model, from articulate crunch to a more open response.
The difference lies in mode M. With its MOSFET Mod clipping, this version delivers a powerful, defined overdrive whose bite recalls that of a modern high-gain tube amp. This is therefore more than simply a variation in gain: the harmonic character, low-end foundation and feel under your fingers all contribute to this new identity.
From Expressive Boost to Heavier Rock Rhythm Tones
This guitar overdrive pedal is aimed at musicians who want to explore several overdrive responses without adding more controls. Its interface remains accessible for discovering how clipping affects the sound, while offering useful options for guitarists accustomed to fine-tuning their tone. Electric blues, rock and more forceful styles can all benefit from its three personalities.
On a pedalboard, in rehearsal, on stage or in the studio, the mode selection lets you adapt the pedal to the desired role. Mode N suits a clear, dynamic boost approach, mode L favors a tighter crunch, while mode M delivers a denser texture. The result will also depend on the level sent to the amp and its initial settings.
Three Controls for Finding the Right Balance
The Gain knob determines the amount of overdrive, while Level controls the output volume. Together, they let you find a balance between tone and volume: more overdrive without an excessive increase in volume, or a stronger output with restrained gain. These settings take on a different significance depending on the selected mode.
The Tone control follows the operating principle of the original Plumes. Turned to the left, it emphasizes the lows; in the center, it brings the mids forward; to the right, it favors the highs. Its adjustment range lets you shape both warmth and presence, with full, clear lows and incisive highs that leave room for the mids.
The selector provides access to the three clipping types. Position L uses LEDs in a symmetrical configuration, position N removes the dedicated clipping circuit to let the operational amplifier's overdrive express itself, and position M activates the MOSFET modification. A true mechanical bypass completes this design focused on essential controls.
The Sound
In mode L, the Plumes Jr MOSFET Mod delivers a compressed, precise and well-articulated crunch. This texture suits rhythm parts that require a clearly defined attack. Mode N offers a distinct contrast: more open and dynamic, it lends itself to clear boost applications and retains more variations in response to touch.
Mode M asserts a more biting personality, with harmonically rich overdrive and a stronger low-end foundation. Its response evokes that of a modern high-gain tube amp while retaining good definition. When choosing between the three modes, listen as much to the color of the sound as to its reaction to light attacks, forceful chords and sustained notes.
