Designed as a true professional preamp, the MicroBass III carries the spirit and technologies derived from the HD360 and Fafner II heads, with a simple philosophy: to offer, in a compact format, component quality and level headroom worthy of a studio chain. Its operation at the same signal level as a mixing console allows it to be placed at the heart of the rig, whether you play through a traditional bass amp, directly into the PA via XLR, or into a power amp to drive a cabinet without an amp head.
For which bassists and contexts?
The MicroBass III is aimed at bassists who want total control over their sound without multiplying boxes. Its 10 M? input impedance easily accepts both passive and active basses while preserving attack and dynamics. Live, it becomes an "all-in-one" solution: mute for changing instruments, built-in tuner, XLR outputs for the front of house, and headphone output for silent practice. In the studio, its two channels and series/parallel modes facilitate clean takes, creating saturated textures, or blending a precise clean sound with a more aggressive drive.
Whether you play funk, pop, rock, metal, fusion, or modern music requiring a very defined bass, its dual-channel design and voicing options (bright, character, types of gain and saturation) allow you to go from an articulated "hi-fi" sound to a thicker saturation, with true respect for right-hand playing.

Can a clean sound and distortion be blended on this EBS preamp?
The Clean and Drive channels operate in series or parallel. The Blend control mixes the clean and distorted signals, while the HI/LO and Thin/Deep modes adjust the level and density of the drive.
What outputs are available for live playing and headphones?
The connectivity includes two XLR outputs, one jack output, and a headphone output in mini-jack format. The two XLR outputs can provide independent pre-EQ and post-EQ signals. When the effects loop is set to stereo, they can also serve as stereo outputs.
Is the MicroBass III effects loop stereo?
With its send and return, the effects loop can operate in mono or stereo. This setup allows integration of modulation, delay, or reverb effects.
