An Eventide Classic Reimagined in Pedal Format

With the UltraTap, Eventide brings its studio expertise into a compact format designed for the pedalboard. The "multi-tap" approach goes beyond traditional delay: instead of a simple repeated echo, you shape a constellation of taps, their timing, diffusion, and evolution. The result: repetitions that can become percussive, chorused, modulated, or even close to a rhythmic reverb texture.

For Which Guitarists (and Uses)?

The Eventide UltraTap is aimed at guitarists and musicians who want to sculpt space : ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, indie, modern pop, film music, worship, electro, but also funk and rock whenever a lively and articulated delay is sought. In the studio, it excels at thickening a take without drowning it; live, its presets and Tap Tempo allow you to stay musical and locked in, even during quick changes. It's an ideal pedal if you like to play with volume, attack (picking/fingerstyle), and dynamics.

Controls, Modes, and Operation: A Pedal Designed for Expressiveness

The UltraTap offers an interface designed for quick access while remaining deep. The controls combine two functions each, to access a maximum of settings without multiplying knobs: Mix/Tone, Taps/Slurm, Length/Predelay, Feedback/Chop, Spread/Spd_Rise_Rel, Taper/Out Lvl. The active footswitch offers two behaviors (latching or momentary) for "on-demand" effects, and a Tap footswitch allows tempo adjustment with your foot.

Regarding integration, the pedal features a mono/stereo selector and a Guitar/Line level selector to optimize internal gain according to your chain (front-end guitar, effects loop, synth, interface, etc.). MIDI management is possible via 6.35mm TRS Jack input or USB, convenient for recalling presets, automating parameters, or synchronizing a more complex setup.

The Sound

The UltraTap's sonic signature is both precise and immersive. Where a classic delay simply repeats, here the taps can transform into rhythmic patterns, clouds of varying density, or modulated layers that thicken the signal without overwhelming it. The Spread and Taper settings are key to shifting from a clear, pulsed echo to a progressive swell, while Slurm and Chop add movement (smear/modulation, rhythmic chopping) for modern textures. In stereo, the image can become very wide and cinematic, perfect for filling the mix without raising the volume.
