The Keiron Series: An "Install" Approach by FBT

Designed for fixed sound reinforcement needs, the Keiron series focuses on consistent coverage, tonal coherence, and ease of integration. The FBT Install Keiron 8C B fits this logic with a compact format, 2-way coaxial configuration, and installation-oriented connectivity. Its size allows it to be integrated into spaces where aesthetics and discretion matter as much as intelligibility, while maintaining true level capability for professional use.

Who Is the FBT Install Keiron 8C B For?

This passive speaker is a relevant choice for installers, integrators, and venue operators seeking reliable sound distribution: meeting and conference rooms, retail stores, restaurants, cultural spaces, public venues, reception areas, or as nearfield reinforcement in larger installations. Thanks to its 80 deg x 80 deg coverage and sensitivity of 96 dB (1W/1m), it can deliver good efficiency with a suitable amplifier while maintaining controlled reproduction in reverberant environments.

The 2-way coaxial configuration is particularly interesting when aiming for a more coherent sound image (closely aligned acoustic sources) and more even dispersion over the listening area, especially at short to medium distances typical of wall-mounted installations.

Design and Performance: What Makes the Difference

2-Way Coaxial Architecture: Coherence and Precision

The Keiron 8C B features an 8-inch (203 mm) driver with a 2-inch (51 mm) voice coil, paired with a 1-inch (25 mm) tweeter with a 1.4-inch (36 mm) voice coil. This coaxial architecture aims for better phase coherence and a single-source sensation, which helps maintain a natural and intelligible listening experience, particularly useful for speech, announcements, and ambient music content.

80 deg x 80 deg Coverage: Even Dispersion

With an 80 deg H x 80 deg V dispersion, the speaker is designed to effectively cover a defined area while limiting unnecessary spill. This type of directivity facilitates installation work (orientation, multiple diffusion points, level management) and helps maintain good clarity in spaces where acoustics can be challenging.

Low-Frequency Management in Installation: Recommended Filtering

The stated frequency response of 60 Hz to 20 kHz is well suited for ambient and reinforcement applications. To optimize power handling and limit unnecessary stress in the extreme low frequencies, a recommended high-pass filter at 50 Hz - 24 dB/oct is advised. The use of an external filter is also recommended via digital management (with presets depending on configuration) to adapt the curve and protection to the venue's constraints.

Plywood Enclosure and Wall Integration

The plywood cabinet provides a solid base for installation, with a rigidity that benefits precision. For mounting, an adjustable bracket sold separately (WM-45) is available, convenient for adjusting the dispersion angle and accurately targeting the listening area.
