A modern chorus designed for performance and sound design

The MOD Chorus is part of Gamechanger Audio's MOD series: a modulation approach that goes beyond simply "turning knobs" and puts movement at the heart of playing. Here, the effect doesn't just repeat a classic LFO: it can react to your right-hand dynamics, bends, vibratos, and even note choices, transforming a traditional chorus into an expressive and lively tool.

With its CHORUS, ENSEMBLE, and FLANGER algorithms, it covers everything from thick "choir-like" textures to more edgy and mechanical modulations. The result: a modulation pedal that integrates easily on a pedalboard while opening possibilities close to studio and sound design applications.

For which guitarists (and instruments)?

The MOD Chorus is aimed at musicians who want an inspiring chorus on clean, crunch, or after drives, but also those looking for more extreme movements (delayed vibrato, resonant choir, "jet engine" type effects with acceleration). Its reactive operation makes it particularly interesting for styles where expression is key: indie, pop, funk, post-rock, shoegaze, ambient, alternative rock, and all experimental approaches.

Thanks to its switchable input level (INSTRUMENT, LINE, EURORACK), it's not limited to guitar: it can also become an excellent modulation pedal for bass, keyboards, and machines, or a creative processor in a modular environment. Live, it shines when you want the effect to "follow" your playing; in the studio, it becomes a precise and controllable movement generator.

Controls, DYNAMICS/PITCH modulations, and advanced features

The MOD Chorus offers 4 main controls: LEVEL, DEPTH, RATE, and FEEDBACK. The idea is simple: immediate settings, then a layer of performative control on top. You then choose a waveform (sawtooth, sine, ramp) to determine how the movement unfolds, from the most organic fluidity to sharper sweeps.

The core concept lies in the two modulation sources: DYNAMICS (which follows your volume nuances and attack) and PITCH (which detects notes, bends, and vibratos). You can route these modulations to one of the main parameters to animate them, and refine the feel with dedicated settings: release time on the DYNAMICS side, glide on the PITCH side, and response curves to adapt behavior to your touch.

Each main control is paired with a small attenuverter modulation knob: you adjust not only the modulation amount but also its direction, independently for each parameter. This allows very musical scenarios (for example: a strong attack significantly increases DEPTH while slightly reducing RATE), or conversely radical transformations where everything moves at once. To go further, you can also set a center note by holding both footswitches and playing a note: pitch-related modulation then activates relative to this reference point. Meanwhile, DYNAMICS has an adjustable volume threshold to trigger modulation only when you play above the chosen level.

Sound Character

The MOD Chorus stands out with a wide and three-dimensional character that remains musical even when pushed. In CHORUS mode, you get movement ranging from a subtle width "shimmer" to deeper vibrations. ENSEMBLE thickens and densifies, ideal for pads, arpeggios, and open chords that need to fill space. FLANGER ranges from subtle sweeps to a more "turbine" character, especially when playing with FEEDBACK and faster speeds.

Its great strength is responsiveness to playing : rather than imposing a fixed cycle constantly, it lets the modulation breathe according to your intention. The result: a more organic feel under the fingers, with dynamics usable for both ambient textures and precise rhythmic riffs.
