The Essentials to Know About the Gretsch G2622T Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut Guitar with Bigsby
- Mastered Hollowbody: double-cutaway format with a chambered center block for more sustain and less feedback at high volume.
- Broad'Tron BT-3S Pickups: Gretsch-character humbuckers, with present mids, firm lows, and smooth highs.
- Great versatility: independent volumes + Master Tone + Master Volume Push/Pull for coil splitting.
- Bigsby B70 Vibrato: ideal for subtle vibratos, rock'n'roll, and vintage vibes.
Streamliner: The Gretsch Spirit, Designed for Today's Stage
The Streamliner series updates Gretsch codes (iconic look, playing feel, distinctive tone) by adding modern performance-oriented choices. This G2622T Center Block positions itself as a semi-hollow with more "control" than a traditional hollowbody, thanks to its center block: a more direct response, better volume management, and a very inspiring feel to play loud without losing control.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
The Gretsch G2622T targets advanced beginners to intermediate guitarists (and experienced players seeking an effective semi-hollow) who want a guitar with a strong style, comfort, and versatility. It excels in rock, blues, pop, indie, rockabilly, and anything that demands character, open chords, and singing leads. The double-cutaway facilitates access to the upper frets, handy for solos and melodic lines.
The Sound
Its body made of laminated maple with arched top and back delivers a clear attack and good definition, with a bright signature typical of a "semi-hollow." The center block enhances stability at high volume, improves attack and sustain, while limiting feedback: you keep the breadth of a semi-hollow with behavior closer to a solidbody when pushing the amp.
On the electronics side, the Broad'Tron BT-3S provide an articulate humbucker, with a well-present midrange and smooth highs, ideal for switching from a snappy crunch to a bright clean. The Master Volume Push/Pull enables coil splitting for clearer, snappier tones, useful for funky/pop rhythms or more open parts, while maintaining Gretsch ergonomics: independent volumes and a 3-position selector switch.
