The VOCLAS: a processing hub for vocals and guitar
The Hotone VE-300 VOCLAS brings together functions usually spread across several devices: microphone preamplification, vocal processing, harmonization and guitar effects. Its approach makes it possible to build a performance around a single pedalboard, while keeping separate processing for vocals and instrument.
Rather than being limited to a vocal effect, it covers everything from subtle corrections to electronic transformations. The built-in looper and external control connections make it a central hub for preparing arrangements and recalling them on stage.
For singers and singer-guitarists, from practice to the stage
The VOCLAS is designed for singers who want to control their sound and singer-guitarists who want to manage both sources from the floor. Presets make initial setup easy, while the harmonization, EQ and routing parameters allow you to fine-tune a more elaborate configuration.
In pop, folk or rock, harmonies and atmospheres can add depth to a chorus without bringing in additional backing singers. For electronic genres and experimental creations, the vocoder, talkbox and vocal transformations open up other possibilities. The looper also lets you layer vocals and instrument to develop a solo arrangement.
On stage, the Songlist function helps you find the presets associated with each song. At home or in the studio, the USB audio interface lets you integrate the pedalboard into a recording setup, while the auxiliary input and Bluetooth playback are useful for accompanying practice sessions.
Controllable harmonies and an interface designed for performance
The processing is built around a low-latency chain that includes nine vocal modules and a guitar amplifier simulation module. The color touchscreen uses a mixer-style top layout to access the settings. The display alongside the footswitches helps identify the controls while playing.
Each harmony voice has independent settings, including pitch rules and panning. Harmonies can follow chords played on the guitar or be controlled via MIDI, from a keyboard or through programmed sequences. This allows you to adapt their behavior to your playing style and the structure of the song.
The microphone preamp provides up to 62 dB of gain and 48 V phantom power for compatible microphones. The routing lets you freely assign the vocal and instrument channels to the outputs according to the needs of the mix. An EXP/CTRL input and MIDI connections extend control with pedals or external devices.
The sound
The VOCLAS can remain discreet or become a central element of the arrangement. The AT-Tune algorithms offer natural pitch correction as well as electronic-sounding pitch transformations. The de-esser reduces sibilance, noise reduction limits unwanted sounds, and the various EQs let you adjust the vocal presence and balance.
Vocal widening adds density, while delays and reverbs place the vocals in an ambience that can range from intimate to expansive. Wah, Tremolo and auto filter add movement. The Robot and Monster effects, vocoder, talkbox and instrument emulations, meanwhile, can take the sound far beyond the natural timbre.
On the guitar side, the simulations cover clean, overdriven and acoustic sounds. This dedicated chain lets you shape the accompaniment without applying the same processing to the vocals, then combine both sources into a cohesive performance.
