A "hollowbody" bass in the Artcore spirit

With its hollow format and lines inspired by stage instruments from past decades, this Ibanez fits into an approach where modern comfort meets classic aesthetics. Its black Cosmo hardware and glossy polyurethane finish reinforce this sober and elegant look, while remaining designed for regular use in rehearsals and concerts.

For which bassists and styles

Thanks to its short scale and easy handling, it is especially suitable for beginner to intermediate bassists seeking a comfortable instrument, but it will also appeal to experienced musicians looking for a more "rootsy" tone. It excels in jazz, soul, blues, pop, indie, and rockabilly, wherever a round and musical foundation is preferred over an aggressive snap.

Sound characteristics

The basswood hollow body provides a soft attack, generous low mids, and a sense of air around the notes. The set-in neck contributes to natural sustain and even response across the entire range. The two Classic Elite Bass pickups offer a simple and effective palette: neck pickup for deep, velvety lows; bridge pickup for more definition; and the middle position for versatile balance. The passive electronics (Volume, Tone) allow quick shaping of brightness without losing the typical woody character of hollowbody basses.

Recommended compatible accessories

For transport, the recommended case/bag Ibanez IHB924-BK is listed as compatible. To maintain the same feel and tension, prefer a short scale bass string set with gauges .050 .070 .085 .105 (standard tuning G D A E).

  1. Laurent D.

I bought this bass to broaden my panel, and possibly replace my electroacoustic. Mission successful: when empty it sounds as good as my jumbo long scale, so I will only keep the Ibanez.
First thing when receiving it (the day after the transfer!!) , I took apart the Pickgard, which has an aesthetic that doesn't suit me, and that snaps when I put my fingers on it to play with my thumb. The switch has a bit of play, but electrically has no problems (we'll see over time but I'm not worried).

Let's get to the most important thing.
So when not plugged in, it sounds enough to work at home, or to accompany a piano or guitar.
Plugged in, the sound is great. From a slightly greasy rock to a muffled jazz mellow. With a short sustain (that's what I was looking for with this bass).
With that and a jazzbass, the arsenal is complete (if we're not talking about fretless or Rickenbaker;)).
For comfort, the handle is short, quite comfortable. The head plunges a bit when you play standing up, but this imbalance is not too pronounced.
It arrived set with a very low action (too much for me, I raised the easel a bit)..

In short, very satisfied (really corresponds to what I was looking for), not disappointed with the quality and seduced by the look.
And taking your instrument to play directly without having to plug in is the best.

    It is just beautiful.
    Connected to the amp: RAS.
In acoustics, it's a half trunk... But enough for solo work.
