Essential Information About the Ibanez AR520HFM Light Blue Burst Guitar

  • Flamed Maple Archtop: flamed maple top, back, and sides for a premium look and precise attack.

  • Floating GB Special Pickups (Alnico): jazz-typical warmth with a design that helps limit feedback.

  • High-End Comfort: 3-piece maple set-in neck, 22 medium frets, and Artstar Fret Edge Treatment for smooth playability.

  • Refined Hardware: ebony bridge + GB10 tailpiece and gold finish for stability and elegance.

An Ibanez Archtop Designed for "Modern Jazz" Playing in the Range

With its archtop construction and "jazz box" elements (ebony bridge, GB10 tailpiece, floating pickups), this Ibanez follows the tradition of electric guitars focused on warmth, definition, and feedback control. The combination of flamed maple and passive Alnico electronics aims for a musical and expressive output while maintaining clear articulation for complex chords and melodic lines.

Who the AR520HFM Excels For and in Which Styles

This guitar is especially suited for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a comfortable, precise archtop that shines in clean tones. It is very comfortable in jazz, swing, blues, soul, and chordal accompaniment (voicings, extended chords). Thanks to the 3-position selector and separate controls, you can also cover rounder or more biting textures for smooth funk, clean pop, or more modern atmospheres.

The Sound

The flamed maple body (top, back, and sides) provides a clear attack, precise highs, and controlled lows, ideal for keeping complex chords well articulated. The ebony bridge promotes direct vibration transfer and contributes to a natural, warm, and woody tone. The two GB Special humbuckers (passive, Alnico magnets) deliver a particularly musical range: neck position offers a round and full sound for themes and chordal playing; middle position provides a rich and detailed balance; bridge position offers more definition to stand out in a mix. The 2 volumes + 2 tones allow fine sculpting of the balance between pickups and brightness, very useful in jazz and accompaniment.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay close to the factory setup, choose an electric guitar string set with gauges .011/.015/.022w/.030/.040/.050. For transport, the recommended gig bag IAB724S-BK is suggested by the manufacturer, and a hard case is included.
