Sound

The DiMarzio UtoPIA HSH configuration is designed to switch from ultra-articulated playing to dense leads without losing definition. The humbuckers (ceramic) provide a sharp attack, sculpted mids, and generous sustain, while the central single coil (Alnico) adds snap and precision for rhythm parts and intermediate positions. The 5-position selector uses split and parallel wiring for more "glass-like" tones, and the push/pull volume activates a high-pass filter useful for retaining brightness when lowering output level. The alder body balances punch and clarity, and the Edge vibrato enhances the sense of dynamics and immediate response.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, a set of nickel strings with gauge 9-42 (such as D'Addario EXL120) is ideal.
