A modern fretless designed for versatility
This SRF4 embodies the spirit of contemporary fretless instruments: craftsmanship focused on sustain and precision, combined with electronics capable of covering both the "singing" textures typical of fretless and more defined, percussive sounds. The combination of a neck-through neck and mahogany body wings aims for a balance between warmth, stability, and projection, while maintaining smooth playability.
For whom and for which styles?
This fretless bass is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced musicians who want to work on intonation and placement, or add a fretless voice to their sonic palette. It excels in jazz, fusion, neo-soul, world, ambient, and pop, with excellent ability to switch from a round, mellow sound to more articulated attacks thanks to the piezo.
The sound
The Bartolini MK1 pickups provide a balanced range, with clear mids and solid definition to hold the mix. The 2-band equalizer allows quick sculpting of the sound's foundation: more depth in the lows or more air and presence in the high end. Complementing this, the AeroSilk piezo system (integrated into the bridge) adds a more "woody" attack, richer in transients, particularly interesting on fretless to highlight playing details (slides, vibrato, right-hand nuances). The neck-through neck promotes generous sustain and even response across the fingerboard, while the mahogany contributes natural warmth and solid lows.
