A Controller Designed to Extend Compatible JHS Pedals

The JHS Red Remote is a small controller with a very clear concept: to allow foot operation, at a distance, of the selector normally located on the pedal. It is a particularly practical solution when the pedal is placed high on a pedalboard, wedged between other effects, or when you want to control a mode change without bending down.

Important compatibility note : according to information available as of May 2016, it only works with pedals equipped with the "Red Remote" input and, at that date, the mentioned list includes Morning Glory V4, SuperBolt V2, and Twin Twelve V2. If your JHS pedal has the input marked "Red Remote" with the red nut, that is the key indicator to check.

Who Is It For and In What Contexts to Use It?

The Red Remote is aimed at any guitarist (beginner or advanced) who wants to gain ergonomics on stage and during rehearsals. In live settings, it allows switching to a more aggressive drive mode, a different gain level, or a voicing variation without having to target a mini-switch on the pedal's enclosure.

It is also very useful in the studio when recording multiple takes with character variations: you keep your hands on the guitar, and the change is made with your foot, reproducibly. On a modern pedalboard, it is typically the kind of "discreet" accessory that smooths playing and secures transitions.

Operation, Connection, and Key Points

The principle is that of an on/off (latch) type footswitch, as found on many amplifiers: one press activates the mode, another press deactivates it. Once the Red Remote is connected, it itself acts as the selector and disables the pedal's selector : you then control the change exclusively from the footswitch.

For installation, simply plug the controller into the pedal's input marked "Red Remote" (recognizable by its red nut ) via a 6.35mm Jack cable. Good news if you already have gear: you can also use any amplifier footswitch as long as it is in latch mode (not momentary).

Sound

The JHS Red Remote does not process the audio signal: it adds no coloration, compression, or high-frequency loss. Its role is solely to switch a state (as the pedal's switch would). Result: the sonic character depends entirely on the compatible pedal and the selected mode, while the Red Remote simply provides a more accessible and reliable foot control.
