Keyboard Design
The Kawai MP11SE features a Grand Feel 88-key wooden action with long keys resting on a balance pivot to replicate the rocking motion of an acoustic piano action. The hammers are graded in size and weight to deliver a heavier bass and lighter treble, just like a grand piano. The triple sensor detection improves repetition, responsiveness, and control of legato/staccato, while the synthetic ivory key surfaces provide a more stable and pleasant feel, especially under stage lighting and heat. The let-off simulation enhances realism in dynamics and attacks, useful for both classical and pop/ballad playing.
Sound Quality
The sound bank highlights the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX and SK-5 grand pianos, renowned for their character and dynamics, with generation based on Harmonic Imaging XL and 88-key sampling. The MP11SE offers 40 sounds covering essentials for live contexts (pianos, complementary sounds) and a 256-note polyphony to preserve harmonic richness, even with heavily pedaled passages or layered performances. The 208 setups facilitate set preparation: quick recalls, consistent levels, and efficient organization of sounds and settings.
